SKIN PRIMING

All clients must be primed on the appropriately prescribed home care, including sun protection for between 2 to 4 weeks prior to treatment in order to:

• Achieve an even depth of action
• Achieve the best results
• Reduce the risk of an adverse response
• Minimise recovery time

Regimes will vary depending on skin condition and may include ingredients such as:

  • AHA’s: To refine the skin surface, improving depth and uniformity of the peel.

  • Vitamin A: Products to refine the skin surface, improving treatment uniformity

    and recovery.

  • Pigment Products: For Fitzpatrick Skin Types III – VI or those patients with a history of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Twice daily application for at least 14 days pre and post peels is advised.

  • Prophylactic Antivirals: For patients with recurrent Herpes Simplex. Preparation for several days pre and post treatment is recommended following permission of the patient’s physician. Lysine is also recommended for less severe cases.

ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Significant immunosuppression cause by disease states (HIV) or medication.

  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

  • Scleroderma or collagen vascular diseases.

  • Roaccutane treatment within 6–12 months of use.

  • For superficial peels a wait of 3-6 months post-surgical procedures.

  • History of hypertrophic or keloid scarring especially in the treatment region.

  • Current presence of malignancy or undiagnosed lesions in the treatment area.

  • Use of anti-mitotic and cancer medication within the past 12 months (chemotherapy and

    radiation) – seek medical guidance.

  • Active infection at the treatment site: grade 4 acne, herpes simplex virus, bacterial and fungal

    infections.

  • Use of photosensitising medication.

  • Client unrealistic expectations of the treatment.

    CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Medical conditions that may compromise or delay wound healing and/or cause complications.

  • E.g. diabetes, autoimmune disease, allergies, cancer, lupus.

  • Current use of some medications. E.g. photosensitising drugs, antibiotics.

  • Patient not willing to be compliant with instructions of pre and post treatment care

    including sun exposure.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless under medical guidance with a doctor’s clearance).

  • Allergic reaction to product ingredients.

  • Autoimmune disorders.

  • Broken, damaged or abraded skin within the treatment area.

  • Application of the peel within the orbital rim.

    PRECAUTIONS

  • History of skin disorders such as rosacea, dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.

  • Use of topical prescription retinoid products.

  • Medications such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatories or blood thinners.

  • Poor lifestyle choices such as smoking, poor diet, (lack of protein and H2O especially),

    lack of sleep, fatigue, exhaustion, UV exposure and previous product usage.

  • Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI.




WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER ASPECT PROFESSIONAL PEELS

Every clients experience will be different. The below is only a guide of what to expect 0 - 10 days post Aspect Professional Peel Treatments.

Immediately post treatment

• May experience zero flaking - light flaking.

• Skin may feel sensitive for 24-48 hours.

Day 1 Post Treatment

• Skin may be flushed, possible redness.

Day 2 Post Treatment

• Skin may feel tight.

• Dryness may occur.

Day 3 - 7 Post Treatment

• Peeling may begin around the mouth and chin area and move outward until complete.

Day 7 - 10 Post Treatment

  • Light flaking may still occur around perimeter of the face.

  • May gradually re-introduce AHA/ BHA and Vitamin A products if there is no irritation

    and peeling has ceased.

SUN PROTECTION POST TREATMENT

  • Avoid sun exposure.

    FOR NEXT 72 HOURS POST TREATMENT

  • Apply physical sunscreens only.

  • Key Sunscreen Actives: Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide.

    72 HOURS POST TREATMENT

• Recommence daily use of chemical sunscreens in conjunction with other sun protection measures.
